Head Coach: John Guiney
Enters his 16th year as Head Coach at Worcester State College.
He coached two years as an assistant coach at Worcester State before being named
Head Coach in 1992. He has led the Lancers to three ECAC Tournament
appearances.
In 2000 he was named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Coach
of the Year. John is a graduate of St. John's High School. He played
four years at Worcester State and was a member of two ECAC Championship teams in
1973-74 and 1976-77. He was named to the Worcester State College Hall of
Fame as a member of the 1977 ECAC Championship team in October of 2000. He
was also inducted again as a member of the 1973-74 Ice Hockey Team

in Worcester where he works for JCJ Realty.
Assistant Coach:
Bob Thebeau
Coach Thebeau will enter his second year assisting Head Coach John Guiney on the Lancer coaching staff.
Coach Thebeau is a Worcester area native graduating from St. Peter-Marian in
1982. He was a two time Worcester Telegram & Gazette all-star before taking his
skills to the University of Notre Dame.
Coach Thebeau was a 4-year starter for the Irish and was twice selected
captain. He holds the Notre Dame record for most goals by a defenseman in a
season and a career. He posted 40 goals and 63 assists in his collegiate career
before is 1986 graduation. The 103 points is good for third on the defenseman
scoring list for ND.
After college, Thebeau played professional hockey for the Virginia Lancers of
the East Coast Hockey League where his team won a championship.
Currently, he is
married to his wife Vicki and they live in Shrewsbury with their two sons
Zachary and Andrew.
Assistant Coach: Josh McClellan
Coach Josh McClellan will begin his first year as an assistant coach after an
outstanding playing career for the Lancers.
McClellan was a
two year captain for the Lancers and led the Worcester State defensive unit as a
four year starter. Last season, McClellan was the team’s 4th leading
scorer with 17 points on 5 goals and 12 assists. In 81 career games, Coach
Mclellan scored 9 goals and dished out 26 assists for 35 career points.
