POMFRET, Conn.- Nichols junior Ryan Gervais (Chicago, IL) scored
a hat trick while freshman John Haley (Shelbourne, VT) notched
four assists in a 9-2 win over Worcester State on Sunday night
at Jahn Rink. The Lancers scored just 24 seconds into the game
but the Bison went on to score five straight goals to earn their
second win of the weekend. They are now 11-3-1 overall and 5-1
in the ECAC Northeast. Worcester State falls to 1-13 overall and
1-7 in the conference. Junior goaltender Keith Fink (Easton, MD)

career saves.
Junior Tom Ford (North Grafton, MA) gave the Lancers an early
but short-lived 1-0 lead. Nichols freshman Jean-Marc Biron
(Atlanta, GA) tied things up just 1:07 later and Gervais’ first
goal of the night gave the Bison the lead for good midway
through the period on a Lancer power play. Freshman Billy
Sabia’s (Ridgefield, CT) goal at the 19:04 mark sent Nichols
into the locker room with a 3-1 lead.
A two goal second, which the Bison dominated, made it a 5-1 game
in favor of Nichols. Junior Jeff Bieber (Littleton, CO) and
junior Anthony Monte (Chicago, IL) scored the goals.
Worcester State got on the board again early in the third but
the Bison tacked on four more goals for the 9-2 final. Freshman
Brian Umansky (Annadale, VA) scored the Lancer goal while
Gervais recorded two of Nichols four goals in the period.
Sophomore Joe McCarthy (Whitman, MA) and freshman JoJo
Bojanowski (Washington Township, MI) scored the other goals, the
first of their Nichols’ careers.
Gervais finished with four points as he added one assist to his
three goals. Monte and Bieber each posted three points on the
night off one goal and two assists. Junior William Knauber (Cheektowga,
NY) assisted on both of Worcester State’s goals.
Fink now holds the all-time career saves record at Nichols with
1,546 stops. Chris McWade ’81 held the old record with 1,538
saves.

they host Franklin Pierce on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and Wentworth
