Worcester State Finishes 2nd At FPC

JAFFREY, N.H.  (October 11, 2006) – Springfield College captured the Franklin Pierce Autumn Invitational at the par-71 The Shattuck this afternoon.

Springfield captured the five-team event with a team score of 329. Worcester State College was second (347), while Franklin Pierce’s “B” team was third (359) and the Ravens “A” team was fourth (361). Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (369) and Green Mountain College (414) rounded out the event.

Springfield’s Greg Levings took medalist honors as he carded a round of 76 (39-37) to edge out Worcester State’s Nick Lombardi (39-38=77) by a stroke. Springfield’s Mike Lajoie (40-38=78) rounded out the top three.

Freshman Brandon Weiner (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) led Franklin Pierce with a round of 84 (42-42) for the Ravens B-side to finish eighth overall. Classmate Kurt Krull (Leicester, Mass./St. John’s) placed 10^th overall with a round of 88. Sophomore Steve Balchunas (Brockton, Mass./Coyle-Cassidy) and junior Craig Jasinski (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) each carded rounds of 89 (12^th overall) to lead the Franklin Pierce A-team.

            Franklin Pierce is right back on the links tomorrow at the Saint Anselm Invitational at Candia Woods Country Club at 11:30 a.m.
