Coach: Reneé LaValley Head Coach Reneé LaValley will begin her second season season at the helm of the Worcester State College field hockey team this fall. In her first season, Coach LaValley earned MASCAC Coach of the Year honors. Coach LaValley was hired in July of 2006. In 2000, LaValley helped the Pride to the NCAA Division III Championship game where they were runner-ups falling to National Champion William Smith, 1-0, in the title game game. During her sophomore season, Springfield won the ECAC Division III New England Championship defeating Wellesley College in the final by the score of, 1-0. She was selected captain of the team for her senior season.
Renee was a
three sport athlete at Whitesboro High School lettering in Field Hockey,
basketball and softball. While still at Springfield, LaValley also coached
for the Whitesboro Summer League in upstate New York. Perham is a 2001 graduate of Springfield College where she was a standout sweeper for the Pride for four years. Her senior season, Perham led Springfield to the NCAA Division III National Championship game where the Pride fell to national champion William Smith, 1-0. She was voted to the Championship All-Tournament Team following the tournament. For her efforts in 2000, the team captain was named to the Astroturf/NFHCA Division III All-American 1st team, New England Regional East 1st Team, NEWMAC Player of the Year as well as being selected as an ECAC 1st Team All-Star and chosen to play in the North/South Senior All-Star Game. In addition to her exploits on the field, she was named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team and granted a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Coach Perham’s other collegiate accomplishments included an Astroturf/NFHCA Division III New England East 1st team selection as well as a Division III National 3rd team selection in 1999. She was also selected to the NFHCA Division III National Academic and NEWMAC All-Conference teams after that season. In high school, Perham was a member of three-time Massachusetts State Champion Walpole High School field hockey team where she finished her career having never lost a high school game. She was an All-Scholastic selection for both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald her senior year. |
