Salem, MA - The Lady Vikings erased an
early 1-0 deficit en route to a 2-1 Little East Conference (LEC)
victory over the Worcester State College Lancers this
afternoon at Alumni Field.
SSC (6-4 overall; 5-2 LEC) outshot the visitors 14-2 for the
match, including 11-1 in the first half. After Worcester's
Angela Johnson (Ashby) scored just 2:18 into the match, SSC
carried the play with freshman forward April Rossetti
(Saugus) tying the contest 1:46 into the second half. Junior
forward Kara Beauregard (Leominster) was credited with the
assist.
The Lady Vikings produced the game-winner when sophomore
Jaska Anderson (Wheelwright) scored off a feed from
sophomore defender Amanda Scola (Leominster) at 45:50. SSC
freshman goalkeeper Jecssica McKenna (Rowley), who recorded
her sixth win of the season, did not have to make a save.
Senior netminder Erin MacDonald (Dedham) collected eight
saves for the Lancers (6-7 overall; 2-5 LEC).
SSC's next match will be a non-conference contest at Gordon
College on Wednesday, October 10 at 4:00 pm.
