Worcester State Knocks Off Bridgewater, 2-1

BRIDGEWATER,
Mass. – In
Little East Conference field hockey action this afternoon, Worcester
State College remained undefeated in conference play as the Lancers
downed the host Bears of Bridgewater State, 2-1, from BSC’s Swenson
Field. The loss drops Bridgewater State College to 3-4 overall and
3-1 in Little East competition, while the Lancers improve to 6-1 on
the season and 4-0 in the LEC.
After a scoreless first half, Worcester State came out strong
scoring just 45 seconds into the frame. The goal came of the stick
of sophomore forward Megan Rosborough (Uxbridge, MA) who
finished the game with a goal and an assist. Senior forward Ann
Clark (Worcester, MA) netted what would prove to be the game
winner, assisted by Rosborough, just over six minutes later. For
Clark it was her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Heather Eldredge (Barnstable, MA) pulled the Bears to within a
goal as she potted her team-leading fourth goal of the year with 11
minutes left in the game.
Worcester junior netminder Erin MacDonald (Dedham, MA)
improved to 6-1 on the season as she turned aside five shots.
Bridgewater goalkeeper Nicole Downs (Hanover, MA) recorded
eight saves in the losing effort.
Bridgewater State is back in action on Saturday at 11 AM as the
Bears host a big Little East Conference tilt against UMass-Dartmouth.
Worcester State is on the road on Saturday as the Lancers travel to
the University of Southern Maine for a 1 o’clock Little East match
with the Huskies.
