BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – In Little East Conference field hockey action this afternoon, Worcester State College remained undefeated in conference play as the Lancers downed the host Bears of Bridgewater State, 2-1, from BSC’s Swenson Field.  The loss drops Bridgewater State College to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in Little East competition, while the Lancers improve to 6-1 on the season and 4-0 in the LEC.

After a scoreless first half, Worcester State came out strong scoring just 45 seconds into the frame. The goal came of the stick of sophomore forward Megan Rosborough (Uxbridge, MA) who finished the game with a goal and an assist. Senior forward Ann Clark (Worcester, MA) netted what would prove to be the game winner, assisted by Rosborough, just over six minutes later.  For Clark it was her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Senior forward Heather Eldredge (Barnstable, MA) pulled the Bears to within a goal as she potted her team-leading fourth goal of the year with 11 minutes left in the game.

Worcester junior netminder Erin MacDonald (Dedham, MA) improved to 6-1 on the season as she turned aside five shots. Bridgewater goalkeeper Nicole Downs (Hanover, MA) recorded eight saves in the losing effort.

Bridgewater State is back in action on Saturday at 11 AM as the Bears host a big Little East Conference tilt against UMass-Dartmouth.  Worcester State is on the road on Saturday as the Lancers travel to the University of Southern Maine for a 1 o’clock Little East match with the Huskies.
