Worcester State No Match for Eastern Connecticut, 22-7

Worcester, MA – Eastern Connecticut State University pounded out 22 hits on their way to a,  22-7, victory over Worcester State College Sunday afternoon in a game played at Assumption College.  The win was Eastern Connecticut’s 20th of the season against 10 losses and a tie.  Worcester State dips back below .500 at 14-15.  This is the third time this season that the Warriors have eclipsed 20 runs in a game.

Eastern Connecticut scored in 6 of the 9 innings with the big frames coming in the first, fifth, eighth and ninth innings where they scored 5,7,4 and 4 runs, respectively.  The Warriors had 13 players record a hit with leadoff hitter Ismael Bolorin (Manchester, CT) and leftfielder John Parke (Middlefield, CT) leading the way with three hits each.  Four other Eastern Connecticut players posted multiple hit days. 

The Lancers did manage 14 hits on the day with right fielder Nick Caparell (N. Attleboro, MA) getting three hits and senior Nate Nelson (Worcester, MA) notching a pair.  Freshman Johno Hinkell (N. Adams, MA) hit his first collegiate homerun for Worcester State in the bottom of the eighth inning driving in 3 for the home squad.

Senior Joel Brierley (New Bedford, MA) took the loss for the Lancers while James Kukucka (Vernon, CT) picked up his fourth win of the year for Eastern Connecticut.

Worcester State will return to action on Patriot’s Day when they travel to MCLA to take on the Trailblazers.
