Worcester, MA - The Worcester State College baseball team had a 4-game winning streak snapped this afternoon as they lost to the Roger Williams University Hawks by the final score of 7-5 in a game played at Assumption College. The loss sets the Lancers record to 20-8, while Roger Williams improves to 17-14.

The Hawks got an outstanding pitching performance from freshman southpaw Adam Dackers (Brockton, MA)who took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before relenting a single to sophomore Bobby Montalto (Hudson, MA). Dackers went six innings giving up 4 runs on 2 hits before giving way to Mark Bernacki (New Britain, CT) who earned the save.

Roger Williams scored all seven of their runs in the first three innings before the Lancers were able to muster a comeback in the late innings. Bryce Dumond (E. Hartford, CT), John Marano (N. Providence, RI) and Peter Reinhardt (Cresskill, NJ) all had two hit games for the Hawks. Reinhardt hit a 2-run homer to center in the top of the third inning.

Worcester State got four runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it interesting and added a fifth run in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally fell short. Bear Dunn (Charlton, MA) was the offensive standout for Worcester State. Dunn went 2-3 with 3 RBI and a run scored.

Brian Todd (Roslindale, MA) took the loss for Worcester State falling to 2-1 on the season.

Worcester State returns to action tomorrow when they travel down the road to take on Becker College. Roger Williams is off until Saturday when they will travel to New Hampshire to take on Colby-Sawyer.
