WSC State Knocks Off Albertus Magnus, 8-4

Worcester, MA - The Worcester State Lancer baseball team earned their 20th win of the season Tuesday afternoon, defeating Albertus Magnus, 8-4, at New Balance Field in Worcester. The Lancers improved to 20-7 on the season, while the Albertus Magnus dips to 11-12.

The Lancers were paced by a 12 hit attack and solid pitching to get the non-conference victory. Four Lancers had multi-hit games. Bobby Montalto (Hudson, MA), Zac Attaway (Hudson, MA), Jeremy Foskett (Charlton, MA) and Kirk Russell (Charlton, MA) all had two hits apiece with Attaway and Russell driving in 2 runs a piece.

Freshman Dave Iannarelli (Maynard, MA) got his first collegiate win going 5 strong innings. Junior Tom Cousineau (Worcester, MA) went four innings in 3-hit relief to earn the save.

Eight of the Albertus Magnus batters had hits in the contest led by Anthony Accomando (West Haven, CT) who was 3-5 on the day with a double.

Jeff Komaromi (Trumbull, CT) took the loss for Albertus Magnus.

Worcester State returns to the diamond Wednesday when they host Roger Williams at Assumption College. Albertus Magnus will play on Saturday when they host Rivier.
