Stadium…heart-breaking loss under the lights with tying run at 3rd and
winning run at 2nd in 9th inn. with Heenan up at plate with 2
outs…base hit to RF by McTigue sent Campbell sliding into 3B with
McTigue scampering into 2nd…DeSales closer got Heenan swinging to end
it…Wood started rally reaching on error, 2 outs, Campbell BB and
McTigue base hit…after 1 inn. WSC down 1-0 and then 5-2 but came
back…sac fly by Attaway and RBI hit by Foskett in 2nd tied score
3-3…another 2 runs in 3rd (Swedberg triple, Lehtola double, wood
single) by DeSales went ahead 5-4 in 3rd (3 HRs in game for
hosts)…Cosby went 6 inn. and Sebring 2inn. (no hits, no runs, 2
K)…poor WSC defense with 4 errors.
College of NJ (L, 6-3 - 10 inn.): Another
gut wrenching loss this time in extra inn…epic performance by Case on
mound…WSC led 1-0 after 7 inn. huge 2-out triple by Campbell to score
Wood…but CNJ scored 3 runs in 8th to take 3-1 lead…big run in 8th by
WSC (Wood scoring on fielder's choice)…down 3-2 then heroics in bottom
of 9th with 2 outs no one on base…Heenan BB, Swedberg single, and RBI
hit by Lehtola through left side sent Heenan home to tie the
game…Davis then blooped a hit into shallow right but CNJ 2nd baseman
made major league grab which would have sent Swedberg home to win the
game…CNJ then scored 3 quick runs in 10th off Sebring and Fuller to
put game on ice…WSC 30th in USA & 4th in New England…CNJ
