The WSC Cheerleaders demonstrated poise and athleticism this past week at the NCA National Championship in Daytona. Competing against teams from all across the country they placed 14th out of 21 teams at the preliminary competition and went on to place 3rd in the “challenge cup” competition. The team ranked just behind Assumption College (first place) and Framingham State College (second place) in the challenge cup competition. Although the team did not earn a spot to compete at finals, the third place victory proved Worcester State College to be an up and coming competitor for next years’ event. We are extremely proud of our athletes not only for their showmanship and strength but also for the way they represented Worcester State College. Because of the precedents and exemplary behavior set by this 2008 cheerleading team we can only imagine a successful future for the program at Worcester State. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all of our supporters! Julie Flaherty, Head Coach Amanda Oleson, Assistant Coach

Lancer Cheerleading The Worcester State College Cheerleading Team is growing competitively each year and is looking forward to National Recognition in 2007-2008. The team cheers for all home football games during the fall season and competes during the winter and spring. 2006-2007 Highlights This year the team competed as both all-girl and small co-ed (with one male) and did exceptionally well. The team gained recognition through their attendance at local and regional cheerleading competitions in New England. 2007-2008 Upcoming Season The Worcester State College Lancer Cheer Team hopes to compete nationally in 2008. The team will attend college cheerleading camp at Boston University this summer! Check out details on tryouts, summer camps, and expectations for more information on the program. New in 2007 will be the implementation of an advanced strength and conditioning program for our athletes. This will enable cheerleaders to gain strength and stamina for their upcoming competition season while aiding in the prevention of injuries. Interested parties should click on the conditioning plan to begin their pre/post season workout which begins in April!
